In 1996, several Christian educators asked, "When the students complete the Certificate of Progress Program, what is the next step in Christian education?" Dr. E. L. Thomas responded by introducing and developing the Specialization Education Studies Program (SESP). The (SESP) is the advanced study program beyond the four phases of COPP administered through the Division of Christian Education Accreditation and Credentials of the Sunday School Publishing Board. It is designed for those participants who have completed the four phases of the Certificate of Progress Program and who desire to focus on a selected area of Christian ministry. The SESP program offers training in: biblical and theological studies, Christian education, church administration and leadership evangelism and mission, and worship and fine arts. Additional information about the SESP can be found in the CLS Manual.
